One of the founding directors of Oceania Aviation and more commonly known as JB, Jonathan began his career in aviation flying MD500s scouting for tuna in the Pacific. Alongside colleague and friend Josh Camp, they began what is now Oceania Aviation through the sale of a pair of MD500 blades.
One of the two original founders of Oceania Aviation, Josh started his career as a pilot flying 500s on Tuna Boats in the Pacific.
Larry Jooste heads up Oceania Aviation's Hamilton location as the Engineering Manager. Starting his aviation career for the South African Airforce, Larry is a highly experienced licenced engineer for all types of piston and turbine aircraft, and is maintenance approved for Airbus and Boeing. Although having his single and twin engine pilots licence, his passion remains with engineering and his strong focus on developing new technology has pioneered our involvement in diesel and our CD-155 Engine Upgrade service.
Peter first got a taste for aviation engineering after enlisting in the New Zealand Airforce and has never looked back. Peter now over sees our Helicopter Components, Turbines, and Blade team. He brings with him over 25 years experience, and is a driving force of continual skill and capability development.
Originally from South Africa, Phil has over 35 years experience working in avionics in Military, Airline and GA. Starting as an apprentice for the South African Airforce, his career has seen him work on various machines including super sonic jets, Super Pumas, Boeing 727s, 737s and McDonnell Douglas MD-80s. Arriving to the New Zealand shores in 2008, Phil has his LAME in Electrical , Instruments & Avionics and heads the Oceania Aviation Avionics team.
Russell is a highly experienced licenced engineer rated on fixed wing aircraft and helicopters, holding ratings for a large number of single and twin helicopters allowing him to certify all helicopters within NZ and most countries. Heading our Part 148 manufacturing division, Airborne Systems, Russell has led his team in the design and certification for many role equipment and modifications for rotary wing aircraft. Russell provides certified training for several helicopter and engine types under individual Part 147 certifications.
A career in and more importantly a passion for aviation wasn't avoidable growing up with a fixed wing pilot for a father. Fast forward a "few" years and in 2010 Stephen joined Oceania Aviation as the Aircraft Sales Leader where he jokes that 'he once thought flying was hard". Luckily he has a very patient wife who still tolerates him a month of bush flying in Canada every year despite a previous 7000 hours roaming the planet. With 18 type endorsements in helicopters alone and 25 different variants, this indulgence is unnecessary but good for the soul. It also qualifies his opinions to prove he's not completely full of it...
